The Rise and Fall of &#8220;Community Energy&#8221; in Europe"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/unionsforenergydemocracy.org\/\">Trade Unions for Energy Democracy (TUED)<\/a> has published its thirteenth working paper: <a href=\"https:\/\/unionsforenergydemocracy.org\/tued-wp13-transition-in-trouble\/\">Transition in Trouble? The Rise and Fall of \u201cCommunity Energy\u201d in Europe<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This working paper aims to help reframe discussions among unions and \nothers fighting for energy democracy on how to cultivate meaningful and \nbroad-based community engagement in the transition to a more sustainable\n and just future. While community energy projects can bring certain \nbenefits to those who are participating, the evidence suggests that they\n do not provide a means for the levels of local involvement that many \nconsider either necessary or desirable, nor for the scale and speed of \ndecarbonization required to limit the serious dangers from a changing \nclimate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em><a href=\"https:\/\/unionsforenergydemocracy.org\/\">Trade Unions for Energy Democracy (TUED)<\/a>&nbsp;is\n a global, multi-sector trade union initiative to advance democratic \ndirection and control of energy in a way that promotes solutions to the \nclimate crisis, energy poverty, the degradation of both land and people,\n and responds to the attacks on workers\u2019 rights and protections.
